Learn how to make money, help others and have a blast teaching Zumba fitness.

So maybe you were born to dance, or perhaps you have a love of fitness and you want to translate those passions into a rewarding career. Zumba is the perfect solution for anyone looking for a fun and creative career in the fitness industry.

Zumba Fitness is Fun and Effective

Zumba Fitness is a one-hour Latin and hip hop dance fitness class. The movements are repetitive and easy to learn so that participants can move along with the instructor. Instructors use visual cues and face the class so that they do not have to speak over the music. This allows participants to lose themselves in the music and makes the classes feel more like parties than workouts. Instructors must have a thorough understanding of the Zumba moves and the ability to feel comfortable in front of a crowd of people.

Zumba Fitness combines the effectiveness of a group cardio class with the mental and emotional benefits of a yoga class. Many enthusiasts stay loyal to Zumba Fitness because of this mind and body connection that the class creates. An instructor must pay attention to this aspect and create classes that allow students to have a good time and leave with a positive impression of the class.

Becoming a Licensed Zumba Instructor

If you feel like you fit the bill for a Zumba Instructor, the next step is to find a Zumba Basic certification class. The Zumba website lists all upcoming classes. There are two beginning certification classes that will allow you to become a licensed instructor. Zumba Basic is for those wishing to teach a standard Zumba Fitness class. Jump Start Gold is for those who want to work primarily with the over-55 population and teach a low-impact style of Zumba.

Each certification class lasts for one day. You will spend much of the day on your feet, learning the Zumba moves and how to combine them to create choreographed routines. You will also spend some time in lecture learning about the Zumba formula. At the end of the course, you will be rewarded with a Zumba license and you can then start to choreograph and plan your Zumba classes.

You will also be given the opportunity to sign up for the the Zumba Instructor Network or ZIN. ZIN costs $30.00 a month but provides you with Zumba music and DVDs of choreography. You can also access the online message boards and purchase Zumba merchandise at a discount.
